Boston Terrier Daily Tips

Everything You Wanted To Know About “The Amercian Gentleman” Of Dogs.

Lately, I’ve come across a myth about how long it can take to train your Boston Terrier puppy, and wanted to set the record straight.

There are claims that training your pup can take up to six months. This is certainly untrue!

If you use the right methods from the very start it hardly takes any time at all. However, there are a couple of common mistakes you need to avoid - and I mean right from day one of having your little companion.

The first and biggest mistake you can make is a failure to set boundaries at the beginning. Here’s what typically happens. When your new four legged companion is just a cute little pup, you end up spoiling him/her with affection, let him be on the bed, couch and everywhere.

And because, at the stage there’s no harm done, being so small, you play around without any boundaries. The problem is however, that from an early stage the pup learns that being anywhere and doing anything is just fine and the affection and attention you give is always the same.

Once such an understanding is ingrained in him, at a later stage it becomes a lot harder to undo that care-free behavior. It’s only when he’s grown a bit, and your furniture and carpets take a beating that it becomes a concern for you and now you may face a more uphill struggle.

Nip the behavior problem in the bud, so to speak. Start setting the “do’s” and “don’t’s” from the very first day…and you will avoid all the struggle of training.

The other mistake to avoid is - lack of consistency.

In order to train your Boston Terrier puppy effectively, you just need 10 minutes…but everyday! Consistency is the key to getting a well behaved dog.

You can’t just try to stop a barking problem by training for two hours in one day and hope the barks go away. Just use the proven methods and be consistent with your training time.

And quite honestly, when you just do 10 minutes a day, it won’t seem like a frustrating chore, but it’ll be a great and fun playtime for you and the rest of the family too.
